The MDC 10th Anniversary Meeting – Time Well Spent

The MDC 10th Anniversary Meeting held on May 4th at the Radnor Hotel in St. David’s, Pennsylvania brought together MDC Members for an educational event that reviewed the region's past diesel emission reduction projects and programs, and planted seeds for future programs. Region 3's Regional Administrator Shawn Garvin (pictured left) opened the meeting with words of thanks and appreciation for the work that has been done to improve air quality in the region and urged the group to continue to look for ways to enlist voluntary participation in emission reduction programs.

The 10th Anniversary Meeting brought together stakeholders from throughout the 7 state region to engage in meaningful dialogue and educational presentations on various diesel reduction strategies, programs, projects and opportunities. The one-day program attracted current and potential MDC members and other individuals involved in goods movement, all coming together to learn and interact.

The goal of the meeting was to promote additional diesel emissions reductions in Region 3. The meeting provided a full agenda of educational diesel topics such as: new and emerging technologies; grant opportunities for diesel reduction projects; DERA Program in review, and port emission reduction initiatives, as well as regulatory updates and a discussion on SmartWay programs. It also provided opportunities to enhance networking and coordination among MDC members.

The meeting was fortunate to have several program sponsors that enhanced the program offerings and provided valuable technology information through their table top displays.  Many thanks to those sponsors for supporting the MDC 10th Anniversary Meeting.
