Reducing Diesel Emissions in the Mid-Atlantic Region

In sum, MARAMA’s complete and active projects have reduced diesel emissions in the region substantially. NOx emission reductions from replacing old engines with newer, more efficient engines will help reduce regional ozone pollution. Reductions of diesel particulate matter (PM) will benefit local communities.

For the vehicles and equipment that have been retrofitted, repowered, and upgraded as of September 30, 2012, the graphs below show estimated annual NOx and PM reductions and the table shows estimated lifetime NOx, PM, HC, CO, and CO2 reductions. Further reductions are anticipated as additional vehicle and equipment retrofits, repowers, and upgrades are expected under ongoing and anticipated grants.
